Slob-Trot Software Adds Atinav’s aveAccess WAP Gateway to its WinWAP Browser
Atinav partners with Finnish software company and extends WAP technology to its 300,000+ subscribers.
New York, January 17, 2001 – , a provider of Internet communications and collaboration software, today announced an OEM/distributor agreement with Helsinki-based Slob-Trot Software Oy Ab, a mobile software technology company. Under the terms of the agreement, Slob-Trot Software will list Atinav's aveAccess (Wireless Application Protocol) WAP gateway as the default WAP gateway in the WinWAP browser. The browser has been downloaded in more than 300,000 copies and been distributed with various magazines worldwide. Also, users will receive limited functionality of the aveAccess gateway, including HTML to WML conversion, WML script compiler, and support of all IP bearer services. In addition, Slob-Trot’s WinWAP browser will be the default PC browser for Atinav’s aveAccess product, which acts as a translator between the Internet and any communication device (from traditional telephones to PDAs to WAP phones), providing the ability to access and translate Internet data in real time over any global network carrier.

WAP has become a standard for the mobile Internet. New services to support WAP are being created to allow people to bank, shop, check stock quotes and email while using a phone, pager or handheld. The WinWAP browser allows subscribers to enjoy the benefits of mobile Internet services (WAP) directly from a desktop PC or laptop without investing in a WAP phone or a mobile device.
The addition of the WAP gateway module to WinWAP increases the compatibility and functionality of the browser for its users by offering multiple means of attaining WAP services. Atinav’s WAP gateway is a platform independent Java-based translator that supports any mobile network standard and supports multiple WAP specifications including WAP Push, WTLS (WAP security layer) and WML Script. The gateway also supports the creation of personalized profiles and maintains subscriber and billing information.
