Atinav's aveLink Bluetooth Software Suite completes Bluetooth qualification program

Qualification ensures Atinav’s Bluetooth technology is compatible with other qualified Bluetooth products

New York, May 31, 2001Atinav, a provider of integrated networking technology tools that add compatibility and communication connectivity, today announced that its Bluetooth Protocol Stack, which is embedded in its aveLink software, has completed the Bluetooth Qualification Program from the Bluetooth SIG for conformance with its 1.1 specification. The Bluetooth Qualification Program ensures that Bluetooth products are compatible.

The aveLink Bluetooth Protocol Stack is a highly optimized implementation of the Bluetooth Protocol Specification. The core stack has RFCOMM, SDP, L2CAP, HCI layers (supporting both RS232 and UART) and the related profiles GAP, SDAP and SPP. aveLink’s innovative solution is fully compliant with the Bluetooth 1.1 protocol specification. Other general profiles like LAP and Dialup Profile are on the verge of completion.

aveLink is a framework technology that allows heterogeneous devices or services to communicate with each other, use the functionality offered by each other and make them accessible from browser/non-browser based client through any type of network. These devices and services may use different technologies like JINI, UPnP etc. and connect through different networking technologies like Bluetooth, Home RF, and IEEE 802.11, TCP etc. aveLink allows these technologies to form a network, and exposes them to the Internet, LAN/WAN or Wireless Network. It also provides a development platform so service providers can quickly develop services for multiple technologies.

“aveLink’s Bluetooth stack is an extremely optimized implementation of the 1.1 specification. By integrating it with our aveLink product, Atinav offers the ability to integrate with various technologies, without knowing the specific details of the different standards,” said Kash Patel, CIO, Atinav. “This is a great achievement for Atinav, as our customers can now be assured that our Bluetooth products are interoperable with technology they already have in place. We look forward to capitalizing on the recent momentum the Bluetooth standard has gained.”

The aveLink Bluetooth Protocol stack is available in Java and C and can be ported to different environments quickly through the use of an operating system abstraction layer. The aveLink Bluetooth development kit contains a PPP Driver, as well as a Port emulation and Port Proxy entity for making Legacy applications work with Bluetooth. The Bluetooth development platform exposes a set of well-defined APIs, which allow the developer to easily create Bluetooth solutions.

About Bluetooth Certification

In order to achieve the certification, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has developed a set of extensive tests. These tests ensure the products will work seamlessly and are compliant with the specification. The Bluetooth Qualification Body maintains an official database of qualified products, including precise product descriptions and Declarations of Compliance with Bluetooth Specifications.
